Do you like art? If so, what kind of art? If we think about it, we all like art in some shape or form. For some, art is a beautiful oil painting on canvas. To another, art is expressed through dance, while to another, it is expressed through one's fingers as one molds and shapes new objects made with clay. Did you know that written text can also be art? I would like all of you to be artists with the freedom to express yourselves in any way that you would like.

Every Monday morning, I will post the topic for you to write about. Once you have read my topic, you will need to write your responses on your own blog. Your responses ought to be 2-3 paragraphs in length, but you should not spend more than 30 minutes writing them. Be sure to title each blog entry with "Topic #__:" and then your own title.

Next, you will need to comment on your classmates' blogs. Each student needs to leave a 2-3 sentences comment on two other students' blogs in order to receive credit per week.

Your responses and comments will need to be completed by 8:00 p.m. every Friday. There will be no exception! Therefore, plan on completing this assignment before the Friday deadline in order to ensure that you receive full credit, which will be 10 points for each week. I will be leaving a comment on each blog I read to indicate to you that I have read your blog.

On a final note, these blogs are intended to be fun and to allow you to display your creativity. Be adventurous and express yourselves! Although we may occasionally use some of your blog entries for grammar practice, these blogs are primarily focused on content. Therefore, have fun!

Last Blog: What's Next?

The end of the semester is finally upon us.  Can you believe that four months have already gone by?  With the impending final exam creeping up on us, I would like to know what is next for all of you.  What happens from here?  Will you go somewhere?  Will you return to CSUF?  Will you go somewhere else?  What are your future plans, and what is going to happen next to you all?  How many of us will need to permanently bid our adieus?

Topic #7: Happiness

What makes you happy?  The weather?  Family?  Friends?  Education?  I am sure we all have different sources of happiness.  What is yours?

In my case, it is my daughter, Ella.  Before I had my daughter and even before I became pregnant, I did not quite understand why so many parents had so many photos of their children in their phones.  Now, I perfectly understand!  My daughter makes me so happy, and she truly brings a smile to my face every time I think of her.  I thank God every day for blessing me with such a precious baby girl.

What about you?

Topic #6: Pet Peeves

According to Dictionary.com, a "pet peeve" is defined as "a particular and often continual annoyance."  All of us have certain pet peeves (things that annoy us).  What are some of your pet peeves?

To give you an example, I get annoyed when I am driving, and I see a car with their blinker constantly blinking.  When I see a car with their blinker on, I assume they want to come into the lane in front of me.  Therefore, I will give them space and maintain the speed I am at.  However, as some time passes, I realize that they have forgotten to turn off their blinker.  Ah!! That annoys me.

How about you?  What are some of your pet peeves?

Topic #5: Why Does This Exist?

A fly
As you know, this world is full of living creatures.  We have plants, animals, HUMANS, etc.  They all have a purpose and play some role in life.  However, is there anything that currently exists which you wonder why they exist?  As I was thinking about this question, my first thought was flies. To me, they are so annoying and dirty.  I at first wondered, "Why do flies exist?"  However, I realized that they serve the purpose of being food to other living creatures, i.e. a frog.

Therefore, I continued to ponder on this topic a little more and finally came with an answer.  A COCKROACH.  I do not understand their purpose in our lives!!  Why do they exist?  They completely scare me, and I feel itchy, unclean, and squeamish when I see one.

With that said, what about you?  What is one living creature that you do not understand its existence?

Topic #4: Senses

As we all know, we humans have five senses: touch, smell, hearing, taste, and sight.  As I have looked at all of you, it appears that you all have all five of your senses.  However, have you ever imagined what life would be like if you did not have one of the five that you currently possess?  Imagine that!  Therefore, the question for this week is if you had to lose one of your five senses, which would it be and why?

Topic #3: Popularity, Accomplishment, or Organization?

Although there are many things which we consider to be important, I would like to ask about the three in this week's title.  Out of the three - popularity, accomplishment, and organization, which is most important to you?  Do you think being popular and having a lot of friends is most important in life?  How about accomplishment?  Do you think it is crucial to be able to accomplish all that you set out to achieve?  Finally, organization.  Is it most important to be organized in all that you do?  Which of these is most important in your opinion and why?  Are you living by one of these?

Topic #2: Time Travel

Hollywood has come out with several movies that are about time travel; for instance, we have 12 Monkeys, Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventures, Butterfly Effect, etc.  Have you ever thought about going back into time?  If you could go back in time as yourself to observe any single event from history, what would you want to witness?  Why this particular event?  Would you want this event to be altered in any way?  Would you try to alter the past?
